Gigabyte G5 KD 15.6″ RTX 3060 Gaming Laptop Review

There are a lot of great laptops in the Gigabyte range, from slim and light models that are great for those who travel, to affordable units that are ideal for at-home use. However, today I’m really interested in one of their gaming laptops, and while they do tend to be a bit thicker and heavier, and often a little more expensive too, being able to play the latest PC games anywhere you take it certainly has some appeal. Their new G5-series comes equipped with a range of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 30 series graphics cards paired with the potent Intel 11th Gen i5 processors, so they should be pretty potent when it comes to gaming, or just about any other task really.

Gigabyte G5 KD

The model I have is well equipped, featuring the latest Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 6GB GDDR6 graphics card. It’s the mobile version, of course, but it’ll boost up to 1425 MHz and draws up to 105W using Nvidia Max-Q technologies. There’s also the Intel Core i5011400H CPU, which runs at 2.7 GHz with a 4.5 GHz boost. And aside from the graphics card and processor, it features a lovely 15.6″ thin bezel HD IPS display, which runs at a silky smooth 144Hz. It’ll support 1 x 2.5″ SSD and 2 x M.2 (1 x Gen3 and 1 x Gen4), and there are two DDR4 slots, supporting DDR4 3200 up to 64GB. However, retailers can build their own configurations on storage and memory, so watch out for different specifications and price points.
